Hard work and dedication yields results

gundog training labrador the tessleymoor way

Hard work and dedication show that anything can be achieved. Riley started training in April 2018 at the age of 13 months. He was excessively pulling on the lead, running off especially to other dogs, jumping up at people, also sleeping on the bed/furniture and generally defiant to any commands. His owners had initially trained him with food. This only adds to the problem by rewarding bad behaviour.

Being a working Drakeshead Labrador breed I suggested we train him the Tessleymoor Way. This would get him working to his breed ability, mentally and physically. Over the months we have worked hard on building the bond complemented with some basic commands. When this was established, we moved on to the advanced retrieval training. Riley certainly enjoys his training and in addition, it’s created a great working bond between dog and handler.

Today’s lesson was a huge success. Riley worked hard in some new terrain, full of cover. He delivered every retrieve to hand, whilst looking for direction from Joanne. Today has to be their best lesson to date, even if Joanne did nearly sink in some water trying to find a dummy she’d thrown!

Well done. It shows that if you work hard and follow my training advice you can have a well behaved and enjoyable dog.
