The Glorious Twelfth
It’s July 12th and that can only mean one thing – there’s only one month to go until The Glorious Twelfth. Grouse shooting season starts in just four weeks – are you ready? It’s a great time to have a session with a gundog professional. It’s never to late to refine your dog’s training and make any last minute corrections.
If your dog is not ready – don’t take them. There will be plenty of opportunities. Following on from The Glorious Twelfth we have September 1st for duck shooting and October 1st for pheasants. If you have a young dog who is working for the first time, you may want to wait until later in the season to take them out. These early days there will be so many birds, it’s likely your dog will be overwhelmed with enthusiasm. Wait a few weeks and there will still be plenty to pick up. It will be a much better experience for your dog while they are getting used to the shoot environment too.
Whatever your plans for the season, let me know how you get on with your dogs. I am always available to give advice over the phone or just to hear that your dog was the best in the field!
