Tali – At 9 Weeks
My latest addition to the pack, Tali the Springer Spaniel, is progressing well. I am often asked how do I achieve the results I do with my dogs? I always reply, there is no magic. Everything I ask my clients to do in 1-2-1 or virtual lessons, I do myself. It’s the same methods for your dog as for my dogs. The Tessleymoor Way navigates down a straight path. I don’t deviate and it’s when clients do that we see bad behaviour occurring.
Puppy Training At 9 Weeks
Tali’s recall and sit are doing well. I encourage her to stay close – it may be cute to see your puppy bounding off across the field but it’s not so cute when they are out of reach. She travels well in her TransK9 crate. I take her to my training grounds but also for other short trips where she doesn’t even get out of the car, just to get her used to travelling. When she is at the training grounds, I ask clients not to engage with her. This ensures her focus is on me and she doesn’t crave attention every time she sees someone new,
Tali is clean during the day but having the odd accident at night. This is to be expected with such a young pup. I have introduced the lead with no pressure applied and she is walking to heel. She does carry the lead in her mouth but for the time being I am letting that go, so she doesn’t get a negative association with the lead.
She is a lovely young dog and I am enjoying doing the basic training with her, laying a good foundation for what is to come.
