Stick To Your Dog Training Process
Max is a six month old Labrador. His owners as a family have worked hard at the dog training process. Max is not intended to be a working dog but the owners want to stimulate him both mentally and physically. He walks to heel off the lead, has a great sit, wait and good retrieves.
While walking Max this weekend, two French Bulldogs came running towards him. The owner has previously followed the training process rigidly and would not normally let Max engage with other dogs but for some reason, he thought he would, just this once.
When they got home, Max became very subdued. The owner checked him over and found a nasty, infected dog bite on his belly. ‘Just this once’ had resulted in a serious injury and a very costly weekend call for the vet.
The lesson here is, don’t deviate from the dog training process. There are reasons for the rules. Don’t risk the health and wellbeing of your dog around other dogs that are not well trained or well mannered.
