More Nightmares With Lockdown Puppies

Every week I’m speaking to people after they have made huge mistakes when purchasing a lockdown puppy. So many of these purchases are people spending silly money for what is in effect an impulse purchase. It’s like all the usual caution and checks have gone out of the window. Buying a dog is a huge decision, even if you’re an experienced owner.

Over the last week I’ve had a couple who were allegedly sold a working Cocker but on inspection it is clearly a Sprocker or Springer. They’d used an organisation that buys puppies off the internet and then charges a fee to keep the puppy for four weeks to crate and toilet train. This screams scam to me. The puppy is now home with them and totally out of control, having lost those crucial first weeks of bonding.

Another lady purchased a Cocker to keep her older dog company but doesn’t have the time due to work commitments, not the best idea.

Another purchased a Cocker after previously owning Labradors. The expectation was that somehow this lively young working Cocker would be like their much loved old Lab. Instead, they have a highly bred young dog that is aggressive, ripping the curtains and causing mayhem.

Save yourself the nightmares with lockdown puppies. Wait until the world has calmed down again before making a decision you may well regret.
