Dogs On Leads – Part 2
I blogged yesterday about the importance of keeping your dog under control when out walking. This is especially important in lambing season but it applies all year round. There is always wildlife a dog can chase.
My client with Monty the Cockerpoo is struggling with this problem. At eight months old, Monty is unruly, pegging game birds like pheasants and ducks. My advice at the first lesson was to keep him on the lead at all times, until we have had a chance to address this behaviour.
Unfortunately, the owner didn’t listen. This meant the second lesson was not a success. If you are paying for advice, it’s best to take it. Ignoring me means that now, Monty will still have to be on the lead, possibly for even longer.
It’s not ok to let you dog chase and kill birds. Respect the countryside and the land you have permission to walk over. If your dog won’t come back, don’t let them off the lead.
