Top price for a top pup – meet the Tessleymoor sheepdog

I’d like to introduce you to the newest member of my pack. Unusually for me, she’s not a gundog. With the Tessleymoor Farm growing, I’ve taken the decision to invest in a sheepdog.

When I say invest, I mean it. This little pup is no ordinary Border Collie. For some time now I’ve admired the dogs of Emma Gray, a shepherdess featured on This Farming Life. When I heard that there was a litter coming from her dog, Reiver Gray, I made a few enquiries. This led me to get in touch with Glynne Jones of Pentir Sheepdogs, near Bangor in Gwynedd who has bred the litter with his own Graylees Cêt, producing stunning pups in this rare lilac colour.

After chatting with Glynne, I entered the sheepdog auction at Skipton. Without a doubt, I paid more than I was expecting to – in fact, Pentir Lassie set a world record price for a sheepdog pup. Glynne’s aim is to breed top quality working sheepdog pups from the best DNA tested bloodlines in the UK. This is a pup with everything, which brings the £7600 price tag. Now all I have to do is think of a name…
