Update On Skye My Border Collie Pup

skye the working border collie

Skye is coming on so well. At 21 weeks she is already a great companion, happy to come along with whatever I am doing.

It’s important not to rush training with a working Border Collie pup. While she has been introduced to my flock, it’s always at a controlled distance, just observing at this stage. I can see her superb breeding coming through, she is keen to get involved and these natural instincts will help with her training over time. It’s important to train your Border Collie with sheep that are not scared of the dog. My Swalesdales are too friendly but my Ryedales will be ideal for her to learn her trade.

Training The Tessleymoor Way

I always say that my Tessleymoor Way training method works on any breed of dog. This is true of Skye. She’s well behaved in the house and I still use a crate for when she needs a little time out. She has a great long distance stop and I have introduced that’ll do, come by and wait. With consistency, she is shaping up to be a great dog. You can read more about the Tessleymoor Farm she will be working on in my #Farm24 blog.
