Aggressive Dog Behaviour from a Golden Retriever
Selva is a 12 month old Golden Retriever that over time has become more and more aggressive. Her owners are a young couple and despite seeking help from previous trainer her behaviour was becoming unbearable, to the point they may have had to re-home her.
So in comes me to help. I suggested one of my behavioural modification programme. This involves two virtual and two practical lessons. The initial virtual lessons allow me to talk through with the clients any problems they have and then formulate a training programme that can be implemented straight away. In many behavioural modification cases it’s as much the owners fault as the dog. Unfortunately the previous trainers had used treats to train, this had encourage dominant and aggressive behaviour. How are they to know that the advise was exacerbating the situation.
Yesterday was my second virtual training lesson following my initial consultation where I implement a whole new training structure. The first thing I observed was how calm and relaxed her owners were. In my previous lesson they feared the dog, sometimes avoiding situations in fear of being bitten. Selva was very territorial and even made them leave the room before she’d eat. By following my ‘The Tessleymoor Way” training methods I have seen a massive change in everyone’s life in just a few weeks.
The prospect of owning a dog they had dreamt of is now become a reality and the conversations of rehoming her are no longer. In the future they may have children so the need for a happy and well behaved dog is so important.
If have similar behavioural issues then I can help. Changes can be made with any dog no matter what age. It’s so important to correct unwanted, dominant and aggressive behaviour before the worst happens.
