How to correct pulling on the lead – Dog Training, Lancashire

One of the most common problems people enquire about is excessive pulling on the lead. It makes walking with your dog unpleasant. Nobody wants to be pulled around when they are out for a walk.

The word ‘socialisation’ is a massive contributor to the issue. Before getting a puppy, everything people read tells them to socialise their dog. This is interpreted as the need to say hello to every dog and person. That’s not the case. You’d  never let strangers walk over and touch your young children so why do you let people touch your puppy? For some reason, people find it hard to say no. The fact of the matter is, if you didn’t allow your dogs to interact with people and dogs at an early age, then you’d have a dog that walked past and didn’t drag you towards anything.

I offer 1-2-1 training lessons at my training grounds to help corrrect such bad behaviour. If the problem is extreme, I can also offer a short residential training programme that specifically works on correcting such behaviour. Having training grounds at a farm and local to busy Lytham, I’m able to offer intense training that will lay the foundation work towards eradicating this behaviour.
