Dog Bite Britain
Following on from my blog post this week about dogs that bite, an article has been published about the a surge in dog bite injuries. You may have heard the horrific case of a grandmother dying after being attacked by the neighbour’s dogs. Children’s hospitals are also reporting a huge rise in bite injuries. Without a doubt this is as a result of lockdown – too many lockdown puppies with inexperienced owners, too many dogs with no basic training, too few people considering the needs of their dogs when they are all in the house all day. As pandemic puppies grow into dogs with sharp teeth, too many lack the training to walk safely into the post-lockdown world. Meanwhile, dogs that do remember a life before Covid are on edge after a topsy-turvy year and face more upheaval as lockdown restrictions are eased.
