Update on Lambing 2023

We’re a couple of weeks into the lambing 2023 season. It started off slowly and like other farmers throughout the UK, I was hit with really dreadful weather. It’s been a disappointing lambing season for many farmers who lamb outside and I suffered 12 loses in the the first few days.

It’s nice for people to see the lambs bouncy around in the spring sunshine but the reality looked a lot different at the beginning of April this year. On a personal level, dealing with the muck of sodden fields and the death of livestock takes a tool.

Looking Ahead

However, we now have blue skies and the grass is growing. I have plenty of healthy, happy lambs around. My thoughts are already turning to growing the flock and adding more pedigree sheep as part of my future plans.
