Glorious Twelfth 2022
It’s that long anticipated time of year again – the Glorious Twelfth 2022. The 12th August marks the start of the shooting season, with grouse moors being the first place to see the action. It’s a scorcher this year and I’ve heard reports of grouse days being rescheduled. These extreme temperatures are not conducive for anyone, least of all the working dogs. However, there will be plenty of opportunities for those fortunate enough to have a day on a grouse shoot. Unlike pheasant shoots, the grouse moors have been largely unaffected by the bird flu outbreak. Grouse are territorial, they nest and raise their young on the highest moors in Britain. This distinct habitat has given them a degree of protection.
Is your dog shoot ready?
With the spiralling price for shoot days, shotgun pellets and fuel, many are deciding to give their usual shoot a miss. If you do have a day planned, the last thing you want is for your dog to let you down. Refresher training will bring your dog back up to scratch so they know exactly what is expected of them. Whether you are a gun or a beater, your dog is an integral part of the day and a small investment into their training always delivers rewards. I can simulate a shoot environment on my training grounds so you are both ready for the real thing. Even if you’ve missed the Glorious Twelfth 2022, it’s not too late to get your dog up to scratch. Give me a call and book your refresher training today.
