Getting Back On Track With Mollie The Sprocker
I started training with Mollie and her owner, Elaine before lockdown. I also trained her previous dog, Jess a Border Collie. She came to me as an older dog and Elaine wanted to get the foundations right with Mollie.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to see Mollie during lockdown and her training definitely suffered. There was no consistency and this has led to some bad behaviour with aggression and resource guarding. On the first lesson back, I witnessed this aggression while the dog was still in the car as Elaine went to put the lead on.
It’s important to gain respect and control with a dog before other training can be successful. Elaine and her son are re-establishing the basics with Mollie as they attend weekly lessons to fast track her progress. We are already seeing good results and more respect from Mollie as we iron out any inconsistencies.
