Summer Solstice Dog Training in Lancashire
The longest day of the year is nearly with us. The summer solstice where will we see the sunrise from 4:00am and setting anytime after 10pm. It’s that time of year where we feel more alive and committed to taking our dogs out. It’s also a time of the year where people let their dogs off more.
I fully understand and agree that dogs need to exercise. That’s why it’s essential that dogs have recall and that you as an owner have control of your dogs. Training your dog shouldn’t be seen as a chore but as an opportunity to build a lasting bond. Training should be positive but using food shouldn’t be your first choice. I never use food to train my dogs. Instead, I believe in building your bond with your dogs. If you place a steak and a bottle of wine in front of me I’ll sit and wait. It’s important our dogs know what we want of them without the need to bribe them.
Enjoying your walks in the sunshine
With the summer solstice, having longer days and nicer weather is a great opportunity to spend more time outside training. When you have total control of your dog, you can relax and smile on your walks. Wouldn’t you like that?
If you are that person who’s dog doesn’t listen then why not invest some time into your dog? Many owners spend thousands of pounds on purchasing a dog but are then reluctant to invest any money in training. Weigh up the short term investment against, say, your daily takeaway coffee. The rewards will last for your dog’s lifetime.
I also offer residential training programmes that are tailored to the individual needs of your dog and your lifestyle. I can work on one specific problems over a short period to a full programme lasting a little longer.
