Tessleymoor Farm
Alongside my dog training business, I run a small farm. I have lived in a rural location for 20 years, surrounded by farms and livestock. I have always wanted to start my own small holding and after the disruption and challenges of the pandemic, I decided to just go for it. So I followed my dream and in 2021, I started the Tessleymoor Farm. I am constantly adding to the livestock on the farm, which includes Ryeland and Swaledale sheep, Boer goats and Saddleback pigs.
Of course there is no point in having sheep without a sheepdog and you can read more about my record breaking Border Collie, Skye, on my blog.
Buy British
Running the farm is a very enjoyable but also a challenging part of my life. I have always championed British produce – the animal welfare standards exercised by UK farmers are significantly higher than those found in many other countries. The time put into the animals does not always equate to the value realised by the end products. It’s so important that we support British farming and buy British whenever we do our food shop. I have seen high demand for the first of my farm reared produce, which includes Saddleback pork packs and seasonal turkeys.
iLivestock Ambassador
After my first year of farming, I have become increasingly aware that I need a system that will assist in farm management. After speaking with iLivestock over a number of months, I’m happy to be working in collaboration with them to develop and use their farming software. The app allows me to manage my livestock and keep records updated from wherever I am on the farm – easy admin in the field means less time in the farm office. As an ambassador for iLivestock, I am working with them to develop the software around the needs of my farm. I’d be happy to demonstrate to other farmers just how useful it is for day-to-day farm management. I am also able to offer a considerable discount to new users so contact me for a chat and demo.
Keep up-to-date with everything that is happening on the Tessleymoor Farm with regular visitors to my Life On The Farm page.
