Success with my virtual/practical training programme

The owner of Arthur, a Cocker Spaniel, signed up for my virtual/practical training programme. Having previously had Labradors, she found this puppy a baptism of fire. Whereas her previous dogs were well-behaved and respected boundaries, Arthur felt that the rules were there to be broken. It didn’t help that the garden was unfenced and that the living area of the house was on the first floor. This necessitated taking Arthur up and downstairs, not ideal with a young puppy.

It’s been a difficult ride with Arthur but we are certainly getting there. At five months, his recall is nearly 100% and he is retrieving to hand. He is not destined to be a working dog but by training him to his breed standard, we are occupying his mental and physical capabilities. I look forward to continuing to see him progress, thanks to the hard work and dedication of his owner.
